Hello, I’m Maryam, the founder of Mentorium Minds!
I established Mentorium Minds because I believe meaningful support is built on genuine relationships. Everyone deserves to feel understood, respected and empowered—not simply given generic advice or a list of strategies.
When you choose Mentorium Minds, you'll work directly with me throughout your journey. I believe consistency matters, and that lasting progress comes from taking the time to understand the individual behind the challenges.
My aim is to provide specialist mentoring that is compassionate, practical and evidence-informed, helping people build confidence, develop independence and achieve their personal, academic and professional goals.
The Story Behind Mentorium Minds
My passion for psychology, education and advocacy has shaped every stage of my career.
I began my career by spending almost four years as a classroom assistant, supporting children aged 3–12 years and discovering early on that confidence flourishes when support is person-centred rather than delivered through a one-size-fits-all approach.
From there, my commitment to helping others led me into specialist domestic abuse services, where I worked closely alongside the police to provide trauma-informed support for domestic abuse survivors. Supporting people through some of the most challenging periods of their lives reinforced the importance of empathy, trust and empowering individuals to regain confidence and independence.
After graduating with a BSc (Hons) Psychology degree at Cardiff University, I combined my psychological knowledge with my passion for education by becoming a Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) funded study support assistant. Supporting disabled students within higher education gave me valuable insight into the practical barriers many individuals face and strengthened my belief that personalised support can make a profound difference.
I later progressed into specialist mentoring (ASC - Autism Spectrum Condition), supporting neurodivergent university students with areas such as executive functioning, emotional wellbeing, self-advocacy, confidence and independent learning.
Across every role, one thing has remained constant: I thrive when working one-to-one. Building meaningful relationships, understanding each person's unique experiences and supporting them to recognise their own strengths is what ultimately inspired me to establish Mentorium Minds.
Continuity From University to the Workplace
Life doesn't stop at graduation, and neither should great support.
Many neurodivergent students receive mentoring through Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA), only to find themselves starting from scratch once they enter employment and Access to Work (ATW)-funded support begins. At Mentorium Minds, I offer the unique opportunity to continue that journey with the same mentor throughout both university and your career.
By continuing with someone who already knows you, your support can evolve naturally instead of restarting from the beginning.
Established rapport
You don't have to spend weeks building trust with someone new.
Long-term personal growth
Rather than separate episodes of support, mentoring becomes a continuous journey that develops alongside your education and career.
Quicker progress
Sessions can focus on making
progress rather than building rapport.
No repeating your story
Your mentor already understands your strengths, challenges, preferences and goals.
Reduced anxiety during change
Starting a new job is challenging enough without having to explain your needs from scratch.
Consistent strategies
The techniques that worked at university can be adapted for the workplace, creating a smoother transition.
The Mentorium Minds Approach to Mentoring
No two people are the same, and I don't believe mentoring should be either.
My approach is collaborative, strengths-based and entirely tailored to the individual. I take time to understand your goals, strengths and preferred ways of working, then develop practical strategies that fit naturally into your daily life.
This isn't counselling, therapy or tutoring. It's a supportive process that helps you understand the barriers you're facing, develop practical solutions, and build the confidence and independence to reach your goals — skills that continue benefiting you long after our work together ends.
Areas of Interest & Expertise
My specialist expertise lies in supporting people whose thinking, learning or working styles differ from what education and employment are typically designed around.
Autism & ADHD:
Focusing on executive functioning, emotional wellbeing and self-management, with strategies that support long-term success while staying authentic to who you are.
Late Diagnosis Support:
A particular area of interest: adults diagnosed with autism or ADHD later in life often go through a period of identity exploration and adjustment. Mentoring offers a safe space to navigate this while building sustainable strategies.
Mental Health & Wellbeing:
Through my work, I've supported students with a wide range of co-occurring conditions, including anxiety, depression, OCD, PMDD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, autism and ADHD.
Drawing on both my psychology background and professional experience, my approach is always to support the whole person, recognising how different aspects of health and wellbeing can interact.
Women & Neurodivergence:
I recognise that autism and ADHD often present differently in women, contributing to delayed recognition and diagnosis.
My understanding also extends to the ways hormonal changes, including Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), can interact with neurodivergence and influence executive functioning, emotional regulation and overall wellbeing.
